Low Carb Old Bay Caramel Ice Cream

Fish seasoning in ice cream? Believe it or not, this is The Charmery's best selling flavor. The instructions below specifically use my Philadelphia-style base because that’s the only way I attempted it. I’ll leave it as an exercise to the reader to attempt a French-style custard base version. The main difference will probably the amount of flavorings. I suggest leaving out the salt since the Old Bay season should provide all we need.

I tried this two ways using Caramel Delight and Salted Caramel. The Old Bay seasoning complements the former but gets lost in the latter.

Ingredients

Low Carb Philadelphia style ice cream base without any added salt
1 tablespoon Old Bay seasoning
2 tablespoons LorAnn Oils Flavor Fountain Flavorings, Caramel Delight

Directions

  1. Follow the instructions for the Low Carb Philadelphia style ice cream base and mix in the Old Bay seasoning early on. Add the Caramel Delight flavoring after the mix has cooled. Cover and chill in the refrigerator for a few hours.
  2. Follow your ice cream maker’s directions for making ice cream. Remove from the ice cream maker using a silicone spatula into the container. Freeze until solid.

  1. I apologize if this has been asked but I'm new here, but is it possible to use only almond or other nut milks only? Or do they have to be used with HWC? Thanks

    1. Are you asking if it's possible to make dairy free ice cream?
